Walking
Walking simulator games are focused on story and your interaction is limited to walking to get to the next bit of story. Sometimes you might have to open a door or a lock by holding down a button or turning a joystick.

Dear Esther
Looks good and it try to focus on the story but it really fails at it. You walk around painfully slow and look at the environment and listen to the narrator that try to fit as many metaphors as possible into each sentence. There is no way to interact at all so you can not really do anything else so for something that sole focus is the story it does not really deliver. The whole thing takes less then a hour and the major part of it is thanks to the really slow walking pace and the dead ends that contain nothing. In short it feels like the developer has taken a badly written short novel and turned it into a walk through experience.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux
Walk, find clues that are easy to walk past and then solve super simple puzzles to progress. Walk, click, puzzle, repeat.

Submerged
Walking simulator where you boat and climb in a sunken city. Gets a bit stale after a while as all buildings have the same style.

The Solus Project
Explore an alien planet and enjoy the setting but ignore the weak survival system. Lack of things to discover when exploring new areas makes it all a bit of a disappointment.

What Remains of Edith Finch
Walking simulator that have some fun ideas how they present the story but the story is to weak for me to care. No movie for this one as the game is really short and anything would spoil something.

Unforgiving: A Northern Hymn
So I got bored. Long winding intro walk. Use matches and more walking, scary sounds screaming monsters and not much more.

Apsulov: End of Gods
Survival horror set in Norse mythology. There is so few things you can do so it is a bit to close to a walking simulator.

Far: Changing Tides
A walking simulator where you mostly swim and sail among the ruins of a lost civilization. Not much happens beside the sightseeing and a some really really simple puzzles.
