2024 in 24 games
Blog was a bit slow this year but i did play 24 games.
Winter - Jan - Mar
1. Syndicate - 2012
Syndicate (1993) and Syndicate Wars (1996) was great. Isometric games that combine real-time tactic and strategy. The best solution for that according to Electronic Arts is to create a dull bland first person shooter. There is nothing in this game worth the syndicate title.
2. Dungeon Siege II - 2005
Bit more management of the characters in this game, i liked to eight man army of the first one. Need to replay the old one again.
3. Alone In The Dark - 2024
Worked on this early in development so it was extra fun to walk around in all the levels and see what had changed :).
Spring Apr-Jun
4. Assassin’s Creed Unity - 2014
As the franchicse moves forward in the timeline it gets less entertaining. Meh characters and the main story was even more meh. Meh is the word.
5. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate - 2015
I think the writer had seen Gangs of New York a bit to many times. Not much i enjoyed in this game. Tiresome missions and side quests. Feels like they reused the boss fight from Unity.
6. Tomb Raider - 2013
Not bad but it’s a bit of a step away from the old games. They had more exploration and puzzles, and this is a shooter in a Lara suit. The sliding down slopes and the running when things fall apart section got boring fast. Not much in way of tombs to speak of.
7. High on Life - 2022
Aliens invade and turn humans into drugs. You get sucked out to the galaxy for an adventure. Run around with living guns that talk and shoot the evil drug lords. The humor in the game from to guns is hit-and-miss. Sometimes fun, sometimes not but they were not as annoying as i thought they would be.
8. Diablo 4 - 2023
Played as a Barbarian and it was good. The walking arsenal feature of the barbarian was nice where you carry multiple types of weapon that can be used by different skills. A bit repetitive dungeons with variations of find two keys and then fight a boss. Some more cool set pieces in the campaign would be nice.

9. Homefront - 2011
A short and really bad campaign. It’s like a 4 hour quicktime event. Get escorted to area, stand on the right spot and shoot/interact and then move on.
10. Homefront: The Revolution - 2016
The semi open world of Philadelphia is nice and you take over zones far cry style. The only thing that really annoyed me was the spawning and despawning of enemies. Stealth style is a bit hard when they vanish into thin air or pop in from nothing. Story was bland and character was like dead weight i did not care about.
Something that i did like was the mission requirement to shoot the surgeons that was working in the torture facility.
11. The Callisto Protocol - 2022
Space horror where they main character climb in vents, squeeze between walls and get knocked out. All of them so often it borders on comedy. It looks good but everything else is paint by numbers standard.
12. Assassin’s Creed Origins - 2017
Origins is a step up from Syndicate and Unity. Enjoyed the characters more but the story is made worse by the open world. It have new combat system, new controls, and I still press the wrong button 30 hours in. The ships missions was a waste and I could live without playing as Aya.
13. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey - 2018
Odyssey is an improvement on Origins and many issues and gameplay systems have been fixed. Good characters but a even more diluted rogues gallery with 44 cultists to murders. The ship is useful and you can sail around and explore.
There is multiple endings and I got the best one for the setting, a tragedy where everyone die.
14. Still Wakes the Deep - 2024
Try to survive on a damaged oil drilling platform when monsters attack. Not that hard to survive. No combat, easy puzzles and some stealth. Think 1970s oil rig theme park with quick time events to avoid dying. Environments looks real nice, monsters are meh.
15. Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 - 2021
The Contracts series is much better then the other ghost warrior games. Some really long distance levels.
16. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - 2023
Looks nice and that’s it. I did not enjoy the combat, progression, story or ending. Can’t watch the map while hanging on thing is also stupid. I dislike pretty much everything here. M.E.H.

17. Journey - 2012
Walking game where you take a trip towards a mountain. Sometimes with other players.
18. Far Cry 5 - 2018
Shoot people in Montana and free them from a crazy cult. To get you into cutscenes the bad guys send out teams to hunt you down. I lost count how many times they captured me so it feels like a parody in the end. Don’t think i can be lured into a cult as i got bored so fast. Endless pointless ramblings by the villan. Did a nope and stop playing in the end as i could not take it anymore.
19. Call Of Duty - Black ops 6 - 2024
I enjoyed this one more then the other call of duty games. Every mission has something new when it comes to gameplay.
20. The wheel of time - 1999
Take on the role of one of the Aes Sedai from the wheel of time book series. Instead of spells Ter’Angreal artifacts is used. Think of them as guns, ammo and power ups. Gameplay is bit on repeat with the same few spells for combat. Long cut-scenes with people slow to get to the point.
Grass rendering like it’s 1999.
21. Close to the sun - 2019
Search for your sister in a giant ship owned by Nikola Tesla. The search is done by walking, reading notes you find and getting chased a few times. Steams, tesla coils and a story that don’t go anywhere in the end.
22. Indiana jones and the great circle - 2024
Great game that really provide a good Indiana experience. Punch nazis/fascists, explore ancients places and go undercover at times. The chase sequences are the weak parts, a ‘oh well’ feeling on the battleship and a ‘yea, right’ on the airplanes.
23. Sheepy: A short adventure - 2021
Platformerer where you explore the world as an abandoned plushy brought to life. Great in every way. Highly recommended.
24. Gone Home - 2013
Walking sim where you arrive home and the house is empty. Gameplay is also empty and so are my feelings towards this game. I was not entertained.
