Aliens: Colonial Marines

This game is a train wreck and the only good thing about it is that the environment sometimes manage to look nice. I will just note a few things that stand out by being extra bad. The game has sidekicks that are immortal, fails to do anything and that you can walk and shoot through. It really kills the setting when your sidekick is strolling around in the open and shooting aliens or tanks like nothing in the world could worry him. Not that he has to worry about the alien that much as most of them always run towards you. In this case running is switching badly between different animations that often fails to fit what the alien is doing. Then when they finally get close enough they use to the most comical zombie like animation possible to shamble towards you.

The only thing that could take my mind of the horrible way the aliens acted was the acting provided by the characters in the game as they tried to vomit their way along in the script. The story, voice over and the lore in this game is a crime against the alien franchise. It makes total sense that the end credits listed all people without any titles. No one wish to take the blame for this game.

Anyone that wish to play a aliens game is better of playing one of the older Aliens Versus Predator games.

Battlefield: Bad Company

Battlefield game with single player focus this time. Fight, collect gold and enjoy the wisdom of your fellow soldiers.

Bionic Commando

Swing around in Ascension City and look for what the evil BioReign is up to. Shot and swing things at them. Read more on my Bionic Commado page

Final Fantasy 13

Role-playing game where the roles are set and the playing takes care of itself. The only thing left is to follow the story and read every note to try to understand what is going on. All the characters overact like the voice actor had a gun to his head so it get's a bit tiresome after a while. The final nail for me was the combat. So repetitive and boring I gave it all up. So youtube for the rest of the story then.

Haze

Play as a soldier fighting for the Mantel cooperation while high on drugs. The drug Nectar gives you improved performance in the game and later on in the game you learn that it also makes you ignore all the horrible things you have done. Later on you switch side and fight against your former friends and also get a chance to do all the vehicle sections and other things any generic shooter contains. The land carrier was the only fun idea but it's wasted like most things in this game.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

This game is made up of two parts, the sneaky action and the cutscenes. I really like the sneaky action as it have a good mix of options on what to do and it is fun to fight both humans and mechs. It also cool how most of the fights take place in areas where not everyone is trying to kill you. I hate the bossfights but I always hate bossfights. Always. The story is over the top and so are the characters but it's a over the top game after all.

The cutscenes then, there really need to be a separate section here as they are as long as the gameplay. Around of nine and a half hour of cutscenes. Sometimes you can use some keys to change the the view and see something extra but most of the time you can put away the controller. All the cutscenes are well made and I had no problem following the story even if it was my first game in the series. The problem I have with the cutscenes is that there is not enough content in them. All the cutscens drag on forever without adding anything. It just gets tiresome when it is easy to predict what will happen next and then suffer ten more minutes of nothing. I do not need to see snake check is gun another time or listen to another repeat exercise in exposition. If you play this game and feel bored it's the Skip Cutscene feature in the menu that is calling on you.

Terminator Salvation

Shooter based on the movie.

The Darkness

First-person shooter where you take the role of a possessed Mafia member that that have to kill off more or less everyone he worked with before. Besides the normal guns you also have darkness power from the thing inside you. It is also possible to summon small deamons called Darklings to help you fight. The problem with the game is that the darkness power is really not that fun and the story is also somewhat dull. The only place when it lights up is when you kill yourself in the story and go to a horror style world war one setting that act as the private hell the darkness have you in you resurrect. Still, I'm not sure that 'it's fun when you kill yourself' is a good selling point for a game.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

Search for lost treasure in the role of Nathan Drake and kill the other people that are also trying to find it. Nice environment to explore, cover based fighting and fun characters makes this game worth playing.
